PRESS: YouTube exec says video limits not censorship

MOSCOW, Apr 23 (PRIME) -- YouTube’s limitations of access to films are not the acts of censorship but they are related to sensitive content, Marco Pancini, YouTube’s public policy director for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), told Russian business daily Kommersant in an interview released on Friday.

There is neither prejudice nor censorship from the part of YouTube, which treats such matters seriously, Pancini said, adding that the company respects and values cultural and historical content, but YouTube is responsible for its young audience.

The Russian communications service has repeatedly paid attention to the restrictions imposed by YouTube on domestic content.

Pancini said that YouTube warns viewers if the content they choose contains shocking scenes, but the videos are still available for the adults, and it is the practice YouTube applies to the whole world.
